What Qualifications do you have?
Please refer back to our "About Us" page for a detailed description of our qualifications. To sum it up shortly I do hold a Bachelors and Master's degree in both music and education and taught as a school teacher for 14 years. Outside of teaching I have done tons of performing and writing.
Do you offer private lessons or only group lessons
At this time, Cadenza Music is only offering group lessons. We do have an option for students who want to sign up for a private tutoring session but we don't offer regular private lessons. As our school and staff grow we would like to be able to offer more variety of lessons but at the moment all students will be put into group lessons., In a lot of ways, this creates a better environment for the student and more community throughout our school.
what ages do you work with
Right now our target age group is from about 10-19. Most of our classes are geared toward students in that age range. We will be offering an adult class during the evening and I feel it is important to separate our adult class from our children classes. If you are 20 or older, I would suggest signing up for our adult only class. If you are under 10 years old, we will be offering a Young Kids Piano Group. This class is designed for kids ages 6-10. If you are under 10 and would like to take our regular guitar/piano or composition classes, we will still consider you as a student but because the ages can vary, we will need to make sure that your child is at a level where they will be able to work with children that are older than them. As our school and staff grow, we will look to find more opportunities to offer adult classes, teen classes and even pre-school music classes but at the moment our main target age range is 10-19.
Do you teach online lessons
Unfortunately we are not offering online lessons at the moment. All lessons will be in small groups and in person. Online lessons is an area that we would love to grow in the future, but for now all lessons will be held in person
I've never played any music before, can i still join?
Absolutely!!! If you read our course description pages, we will divide you up by ability. Our beginning groups are created for students who have had little to no musical experience. We love to start this journey with you and no matter where you at from beginner to pro, we have a group for you.
can i get a multi-kid/ Multi Class discount
Yes absolutely! We would love if multiple members of your family decide to join our school. It is full price for the first student, but then you can take $15 off your tuition for each additional student or class you sign up for. This is a great chance to have all siblings sign up together, and perhaps even mom and dad signing up for our adult classes.
i don't have an instrument and not sure what kind i need. can i get help with that?
We are always happy to suggest suitable instruments for our students. One great thing we offer is our own in house leasing program. You can lease an instrument from us while you take your classes and then you can use your payments towards purchasing the instrument if you'd like. This is a great option if you are concerned and unsure what kind of instrument to go out and buy. Many music stores work on commission and unfortunately can try selling you things that you don't really need. We will provide an appropriate instrument for you at a fair price if you choose our instrument lease program. If you would prefer to get your instrument elsewhere, we are happy to offer our suggestions of what would be suitable depending on your age, ability level etc.
What type of performances do we have
So we will be having various types of performance opportunities for our students. We have already made partnerships with Catopia Cat Cafe, Cafe Bella, Artist Barbershop and Muzzle Guitars to name a few. With our partnerships, we are able to set up regular gigs for students to have an opportunity to play outside of school. Our partnerships are continuing to grow so we will have many more as time goes on. We also will have open mic/jam nights at our school so students can have an opportunity to invite friends and family and perform. Along with local gigs, we will throw big recitals in the the winter and spring time. It is important for us to give our students various opportunities to perform and help them develop that love for performing music.
What are we going to play
I love all styles of music so we will play all styles of music. I never understood programs that primarily focus on only one style of music. I have spent my musical career growing in various styles and I feel that I am better because of it. I performed Mariachi music for many years, I studied Classical and Flamenco music throughout college. I performed with various Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands as well as spent over 10 years leading in Christian worship groups. I feel like that experience has grown my musical abilities and appreciation. We play a little bit of everything. You may be surprised that we do a Beethoven song next to a Metallica song. The greatest reward is when you can play those two songs back to back and begin to understand the commonalities between them. That is the point where you really start appreciating and understanding music. So be prepared to play a little bit of everything!!!!
Can I have a trial lesson
Yes!! We will be holding free trial classes at various times during the month. This will give you an opportunity to come in and try out our school for free. After your trial class, you can decide to enroll in a regular class or you can just do your single class and leave with no pressure or obligation. Watch our calendar and social media accounts for announcements of our trial classes or you can always email/call/text us for information about them.
